Deleting a Source
Remove a source you no longer need - permanently.
Table of Contents
If a source is no longer relevant, outdated beyond repair, or was connected by mistake, you can delete it from your agent. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone, so make sure you're certain before proceeding.
In this article, you'll learn:
- What happens when you delete a source
- How to delete a source
- How to delete an individual snippet
- When to delete vs. toggle off
What Happens When You Delete a Source
- The source is immediately removed from your agent.
- All snippets belonging to that source are permanently deleted.
- Your agent stops using that content for answers right away.
- The original content in your external platform (Helpjuice, Google Drive, etc.) is not affected - only the connection and synced data inside Outlearn is removed.
- Deletion cannot be undone. If you need the source again, you'll have to reconnect it from scratch.
How to Delete a Source
- Go to the Sources tab.
- Find the source you want to delete.
- Click the three dots (⋮) next to it.
- Select Delete.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
The source will be removed from your list immediately.

How to Delete an Individual Snippet
To delete a single snippet without removing its entire source:
- Go to the Sources tab.
- Click the arrow (›) next to the source to expand it.
- Find the snippet you want to delete.
- Click the three dots (⋮) next to it.
- Select Delete.
Delete vs. Toggle Off
Before deleting, consider whether toggling the source off is a better option.
| Toggle Off | Delete | |
|---|---|---|
| Reversible? | Yes - turn it back on anytime | No - permanent |
| Preserves settings? | Yes | No |
| Agent still uses it? | No | No |
| Auto-sync continues? | Yes | No |
Delete when: The source is no longer relevant, the content is being moved elsewhere, or you connected something by mistake.
Toggle off when: You're temporarily pausing a source, troubleshooting, or unsure whether you'll need it again.
Best Practices
- When in doubt, toggle off instead of delete - you can always delete later, but you can't undo a deletion.
- If you're deleting a source because the content has moved to a different platform, connect the new source first before deleting the old one to avoid any gaps in your agent's knowledge.
- Deleting a source removes all its conversation history associations - this doesn't affect Analytics data, but the source will no longer be attributed to past answers.
